I'm looking to buy some trousers that are like the old Farahs that used to be available everywhere. Is there a high street shop that sells something similar off the rack. Machine washable would be good too. I guess M and S is probably the best bet? I'll be buying online

  • I had a look yesterday, but they seem to have changed direction a bit and everything on there looked a but casual. Maybe i didn't look hard enough

You can still buy Farahs. Online as @Kittyfrisk has pointed to.

If you want a physical shop at some point Boundary Mill carry them. Matalan have a few as well.

I don’t know what’s left in the Debenhams sale or, as you say, MandS for that kind of thing.

Websites aimed at football hooligans might be a good bet

Good shout, as I've always wanted a Leo Gemeli jumper too!

  • All the current stuff in the shops seems to  be aimed at the skinny leg look, which doesn't work for me. I just want some comfortable, durable trousers.

Not exactly like Farahs but https://spoke-london.com/ are well worth a look. Incredible range of fits and a decent selection of cuts.

They’re the most comfortable trousers I’ve had as they actually fit properly.

This site is good for that kind of gear. I've not looked but imagine they sell Farrah

As @EricTheWeary pointed lout, Boundary Mill is the answer if you want to go to an actual shop - two weeks today?

They have lots of Farah, especially the ones with the distinctive pocket cut.

Anything else does look extremely dated.....my daughters made me throw out any of my trousers that were baggy legged
and I feel like a new man .......I'm just not sure where to find one during the lockdown !

And a lot of other similar stuff if the Farahs are no good.
If you sign up to the BM mailing list you can usually get a voucher for a free cup of tea when you go. It’s the only place left now where I can feel relatively young and trendy when I go.

I found some good chinos today from a brand i'd never heard of called Stan Ray. They weren't cheap, but they look like they'll last. They seem sturdier than the Dockers I saw recently, which seemed thinner than a very thin thing.

It looks like you can still get proper slacks in Farah's "Classic Collection"?

RIP Greenwoods. Typical, just as I turned 60 they shut down.

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to
