Well that's been a couple of weird days..

Two names from my past on the BBC website this week.
Ghislaine Maxwell having another accuser surface and Gordon Liddy dead.

Shortly after I left Pergamon Press I was involved with some design work on the remodelling of her bedroom (When I worked at Pergamon I met the rest of the family, Cpt Bob every bloody day when he was in Oxford and for a while I was sat at the next desks to her brothers Kevin and Ian Maxwell). She was only a teenager then. Which in retrospect doesn't sound at all creepy...

I was invited to chaperon Gordon Liddy during a short gap on a book promotion tour for Will so I took him for a curry.

    Two names you wouldn't normally expect to see in the same sentence!

    Definitely not in the same prison sentence.

    Though neither are exactly unfamiliar with the clink environment.

    @Brio ;

    My wife worked at Headington Hill Hall  for Pergamon Press in the early 1990's when we lived in Benson. She looked after Gilbert Richards after the Elsevier sale so she's watching the Ghislaine Maxwell situation with interest :)

    Weird.  My wife worked at Pergamon Press too in the late 80s and she also had a few odd Maxwell family experiences. When she quit Robert Maxwell asked to meet her to try to convince her to stay and he called
    her “little girl” in the meeting rather than her name. Odd.

    My wife used to come home with the odd tale as well :) I met him once just after the sale to Elsevier when he threw an event in the grounds for the staff. I seem to remember he flew in by helicopter but I might have imagined that as it was a long time ago!

    I live right next to Benson. Small world.

    I've never lived near, nor met any of them and I'd never heard of Gordon Liddy before this thread.

    What? You’d never heard about The White House Plumbers? (They were there to stop the leaks).

    Compared to his huge bulk, everyone's little.

    Gordon Liddy? Never heard of him.

    Looked him up, something about Watergate? You lot must be older than me I was about 9 back then and unsurprisingly unconcerned with world politics.

    I'm going to save time by assuming from now on that everyone's wife worked for Pergamon Press at some point.
