Just had the police on the phone

What's Hot

Was driving back from the supermarket earlier and my phone rang. The police were on the other end as there had been a 999 call made from my landline.

Nobody at the other end but they could hear a dog barking. They tried calling back but the phone was engaged.

The police stayed on the line as we drove back home (only about 2 minutes away).

Turns out the dog had somehow dialled 999, and hearing a voice at the end of the phone started barking at it.

I've apologised to the police and unplugged the landline

You’re lucky they didn’t come round and feel your collar.

Sounds like your dog was 'so lonely' ... :-)

If I was ever tempted to think that dogs weren't ace, then stories like this would remind me not to be so stupid.  =)

Don't be too quick to blame the dog.
My ex. could use a phone and was definitely barking...

My toddler son did this in the early noughties. I got a massive bollocking. I suggested they’d got the wrong man - if they’re that concerned, take him in for questioning. They liked that even less....

On a positive note, I’ve been released recently and hopeful that once lockdown is over, I can reunite with my son.

If the dog's learned how to use the phone then lock your credit cards away safely or one day you'll come home to a 20 foot high pile of tines of dogfood.

Dog gave them your mobile number, that’s the most impressive part!

I was almost arrested once at my home in a case of mistaken identity .....it was actually somebody else in my family quite distant but with the same initial and surname .
They phoned my mobile from outside my house to ask me to get the dogs in ( we had 14  Irish Wolfhounds at the time ).
I do not know,to this day,how the hell they got my mobile number since I have never had any contact or issues with them .
    Something quite scary about that.

If you call the police on your mobile, and give your name, they have your mobile.

When my father, whom I haven't seen for years died, they had my number from when he called the police once, and they took my name and his, and then when I called the police with a different number later on, the association was updated  and they were easily able to contact me because of this recorded association and because I had called them recently with my new number.

A.police officer was telling me about it once, but I can't remember what it is. I guess it's like the gangs database but for civilians? (I'm not in a gang)

I think it's part of the National Police Computer. Maybe some coppers can correct or confirm this.
