New TC minis

What's Hot

It looks like they are doing mini versions of some of their Smorgasbord range. The standard versions are fairly low budget pedals so it will be interesting to see if the prices are also mini.

IIRC the Smorgasbord range were partly based on the Behringer range and those were essentially Boss clones. So might be interesting to see what comes out.

interesting that they've come up with a new housing for a mini pedal.

Everyone else just does the Mooer style.

It's not the most exciting pedal release ever but I thought the smorgasbord ones looked a bit clunky by modern standards so they've neatened the design up and gone for a top mounted look which people often seem to prefer ( I don't particularly as they overhang on a pedaltrain type set up).

Including TC themselves usually! I'm a fan of the Hotone style myself, but these look cool too, although the originals are quite large, so difficult to tell how 'mini' they are really.

Anyone on here a fan of the full sized version? Worth a punt?

Next one. As far as I know this is not only a new mini but a new design for tc, a high gain distortiony thing.

I assumed from the controls that was a Rat?

Just actually watching the video and it has a Rat mode. I think it's bigger box predecessor was the Grand Magus which seems to have been more of a straight Rat clone.

So, yes anyone looking for a potentially slightly more versatile Rat style pedal in a wee box with top mounted jacks then look no more.

It looks like it's offering you the choice of Rat, Turbo Rat, or Fat Rat.

Not subtle at all about it being an "authentic" Rat clone with the shot of an LM308 chip.

Glad I kept watching after that first minute of wah - not a great way to demo a distortion pedal if you can't really hear it.

I would probably have looked up how to pronounce "Magus" before making the video, personally.

If it is three rats in one box, can they get away with calling it a brand new circuit?!

I suspect Mooer might argue with that

And I suppose, in fairness, so would Proco!

Proco have made switchable rats for ages like the Deucetone

Yes that's what I meant. Was my favourite distortion pedal ever in fact (though I could easily just get two Mooer Black Secrets for the same function I suppose).

Interesting that they can make such a song and dance at TC about a small switchable Rat ;)

The Magus Pro sounds quite good to me but I've always liked Rats. As usual Turbo mode seems the best to me, the led "mighty mouse" mode was always my favourite on my Keeley modded one. Much prefer that form factor to the Mooer style mini enclosure, and it looks nicer than the Proco one too actually!

...and there’s another. If I keep posting these perhaps they’ll give me an endorsement. Or a plectrum. Or something.
Not watched it yet but $59 mini klone.

New version of the Mojo Mojo.

Only watched a bit of this so far but Paul Gilbert is a fun guy.

...I think it’s purple and has a gain mid switch but otherwise same as regular Mojo Mojo. Not a mini despite me putting it in this Discussion.

I have the standard Mojo Mojo and it's alright, it doesn't sound like it does when he plays it though to be fair! He does seem to have a strong touch though and I'm a bit softer so I don't get anywhere near that much gain from mine.

He seems a likeable chap. However whilst I don't normally care either way for "guitar faces" or gurning, his faces really put me off my cup of tea. Seemed to calm down whilst singing though, he had a good sound when doing that actually.

Was looking at flogging the MojoMojo but maybe it's worth a better look with a boost before it, especially if there's a new one coming out as the original ones are worth peanuts anyway
