Fuzz Issue

Looking for some tech help. I recently acquired a MJM London Fuzz from a fellow Fretboard member. Works fine with PSU but no light or signal when using battery (new 9v battery). Signal when bypassed is fine. Although not powering the pedal, the battery gets very hot. Any ideas where the fault might be?

Quite enjoy trying to fix these things so happy to get stuck in to some trial and error (but hoping to avoid any big errors as I really like the pedal).

    Sounds like there's a short in the battery connector.

    Couldn't identify any bare wire or anything but replaced the battery connector and its working a treat.
