Room microphone

Can anyone recommend a good microphone (a condenser type I presume) to capture the sound of a live room?

So basically if you're recording a band rehearsal or acoustic performance and only want to use 1 mic for a collective capture.

I take short lesson clips of my lessons for social media stuff and currently use a USB mic with an iPad. Its decent but I feel it doesn't capture the sound very well. I want to run this mic into my Focusrite and use my laptop to record the video taking the mic sound.

I've had excellent experiences with the Rode M3 - and it's not that expensive.

If everyone is not in one corner then get an omni/multipattern mic, be aware that it will pickup alot of the room, but does even out volume more than a cardioid.

It's two of us playing guitar with the audio coming out of some monitor speakers. So a 60 second clip of us playing a song together.

Look for a PZM Boundary mic, the sort of thing you put on a table at meetings. Me to. If you want it, you can have it for the postage. NO warranty. Haven't used it in years and it's modded to take a 9v battery.

Hmm, never seen these before, but just read about them and they seem to have been around for ages. XLR connection makes it ideal to plug into my interface as well, for £30 odd it seems really cheap! My USB mic cost well over £100 and it does a job, but I feel its too far away from the sound source.

For a room recording a matching stereo pair of microphones is really good, position them well to avoid phasing issues.

3d Binaural recording is amazing. I would like to explore this more in recording
