Bad guitar day

I picked up my acoustic and started to play my warm up exercises. It sounded CR*P. So I picked up my parlour and it sounded much the same. BAD GUITAR DAY.
Picked them up today and, apart from my own ineptitude, they sound just fine. What's going on?
