Loved this rather quirky song when it released in the late eighties. The extended version is even better.  I think the songs content is still relevant today.

I'll be honest. I was in a hurry so I dived into the middle. It has that 80s sound that I really don't like so I'm afraid that's as far as I got.

The 80s sound reminded me of a 12" single that I thought was interesting and bought at the time. Now I'm scratching my head and saying What was I thinking!?!?!

Wow - Karel Fialka, that's a real blast from the past.  Hey Matthew was his most successful single but I prefer "The Eyes have it" which I listened to endlessly back in 1980 I think, great bassline.  Can't understand why it wasn't a big hit.

He's half Scottish - lives near my sister in the NE Highlands.

That takes me back a long way.  Don't think I've heard that since the 80s, not a remarkable song, but pleasant enough and brings back memories of being a lot younger.

I’ll need to watch this. My brother is called Matthew and I remember it coming out when we were little kids. My Dad bought us the 7” single which seemed like the best thing ever at the time. Haven’t heard the song since way back then!

Yeah, great song. Quirky stuff but a serious message. 

Mind you, all that crap Matthew was watching I used to watch as well and I haven’t turned out too bad.

I should also say that I liked 80’s band ‘New Musik’.

 Hey @chillidoggy  You disliked the 80's?  Does that include the rather saucy very artistic video directed by Storm Thorgerson   accompanying the quite cool track "Imagination" by Belouis Some. His real name was the much cooler, Neville Keighley

Me too - highly underrated, got labelled as a "synth pop" band which was all wrong, they were a straight up four piece and had some great songs too.  Probably chose the wrong name.  Living by Numbers is one of my all time favourite tracks,  love the outro.
