2001 Fender Custom Shop 51 Nocaster Relic- ON HOLD
What's Hot
Up for sale here is a brilliant Custom Shop Nocaster from 2001. This is a lovely guitar, it's from the period when the Custom Shop started nailing the vintage specs. Lovely birdseye maple neck too. The relicing is very tasteful, not like some of the more hardcore, dragged behind the back of a van jobs that you see. Plus it's had 20 years of natural ageing which, given the thin finish, makes for a very convincing look. The pickups are Custom Shop Nocaster pickups which sound incredible. Tweed Case.
Pickup from central london, SE1 or couriered at your cost.
Price £2,350 ONO.
This is part of Fender's 'Time Machine' Series. I don't have the spec sheet but on digging around on the web this appears to be part of the post-'Cunetto' era where the vintage specs became very accurate. The previous specs I listed were wrong, this is much truert to the original Nocasters. I think the specs are as follows:
WEIGHT 3.55 kg
Finish: Butterscotch
Series: Time Machine
Body Shape: Telecaster
Neck Material: 1-Piece AA Quartersawn Maple
Neck Shape: "U"
Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)
Fingerboard Radius: 7.25
Number of Frets: 21
String Nut: Bone
Truss Rods: Vintage-Style Butt Adjust
Bridge Pickup: Custom Shop '51 Nocaster
Neck Pickup: Custom Shop '51 Nocaster
Controls: Volume, Tone
Pickup Configuration: SS
Bridge: 3-Saddle Vintage-Style Strings-Through-Body Tele with Brass Barrel Saddles
Tuning Machines: Vintage-Style with Fender Logo

Again, seller can confirm, but these are vintage correct mainly so 7.25 radius, vintage frets etc
Many thanks,
M
I'm fairly certain that they did have COA at that time point. I had a 96 custom shop guitar which had one.
For me it wouldn't be a deal breaker but if you find that it is a stumbling block I think that they will do a new one for you. I think it was about £75 last time that I looked.
The only deal breaker for me is that sadly I don't have a spare two and a half grand
