2021 Pedal ins and outs (so far)?

Its been quite a big year for pedals so far, mainly as I’ve gotten used to the DRRI which is a great platform. My tastes have also expanded to include Gilmour and EVH, two of the really big players who (somehow) largely passed me by until my late 30s.

 In:
JHS Bonsai
The Dude
EVH 5150
Carbon copy mini
Tone City Tape Echo
MXR micro flanger
Ventura vibe (incoming)
EHX Green Russian Muff (incoming)

Out:
Tumnus
TS mini
DS-1
Earthquaker The Depths
MXR 6 band EQ
Mooer Black Secret
Digitech Drop

There are several more I’d like to try, including some sort of compressor. After selling The Depths as it was too bright with a very narrow sweet spot, I’ve ordered a Ventura vibe from Reverb as it offers combined univibe or Leslie effects..for the sake of a small number of songs its probably more efficient use of space, although if money was no object the Fulltone custom shop mini deja vibe would be on the list too!

Go…

    - Origin Effects RevivalDRIVE (plus extra footswitch). It works well with my HX FX either at the front or in a loop.

Origin RevivalTrem (just a beautiful, beautiful pedal that makes everything better)
Demon Pedals Kondo Shifuku (first foray into D style pedals, and last cos it's fantastic!)

    Out:
Origin RevivalDrive Compact (amazing, but I already have the big one and really wanted the trem!)
Jackson Audio Golden Boy X 2 (super versatile but i have a few transparent drives so they all sound exactly the same)

Quiet year so far, must be getting near the end of the search now surely  :#

Wampler Mini Plexi - Fabulous, small and very amp-like pedal that works well across it's whole gain range and reacts well from the guitar volume and the best MIAB I've owned/come across
Gigrig QMX6 - does that count? Who cares and it bloody well helps with things
Zoom MS70-CDR - I've 2 of these now on my board. Dirt cheap, punches above its weight/price point and a Swiss Army Knife pedal that can rival the big boys on some things and comes in at £45 used!

    Out:
Fulltone OCD V1.7 - it didn't sound as good as my V1.4
JRAD GTO - Good pedal but preferred my OCD, Wampler Mini Plexi, Keeley TS-808
JRAD Touch - raspy and didn't work for me. Not as good at the GTO or The Dude I had
JHS AT Overdrive - I regret selling this one as it's also a great MIAB. While I think the Wampler Mini Plexi just pips it, I wouldn't mind having an AT+ again at some point.

Only think I have bought for about 3 years I bought this year.

EHX Big Muff. Like the name. Like the noise.

Not sure when any further purchases may be made, but some modulation possibly in the shape of an Electric Mistress.

Strymon Volante - yeah, every bit as good as everyone says
Strymon Dig - got on a trade. I like the idea for dual delays but hasn't been used much tbh
Redbeard Angry Rhubarb - absolutely massive range of sounds and works brilliantly with my JM in particular
Redbeard Honey Badger - I'm not a fuzz guy but this is the closest I'll be. A huge amount of filthy fun

    Out:
Walrus SLO - lovely party trick, just not one I really need
Walrus Monument - duplicate v1 pedal. Sold to keep a v2

Lots more on the block. I'll put a thread up here if I'm ever allowed in the UK again...

    - Switched out the boss RC-500 (too midi-flawed for me to use practically) for a tried and trusted Pigtronix Infinity - still the best looper there is for me.

    - Bought another MC6 to control presets on my Moog MF104M.

    - EHX Russian Big Muff came in for noises.

    - Zvex Box Of Rock came in for more noises.

That’s the lot. My former self would be appalled.

So few this year, usually it’s one a month
Torpedo CabM - on the end of one of the pedalboards to turn it into a direct to mix thing
Origin Magma57 - the Revivaltrem was so good I had to try this, and it’s a keeper.
Chase Bliss Blooper - always wanted one of these, kept missing out, so when they were back in stock

Only other thing that still tempts is GlouGlou Loupe (I have a real weakness for loopers), but when I made a guess at the cost including duty/vat/postage it looked like being £600+ !
Oh, and the Angry Rhubarb sounds interesting …

Very poor effort so far for me this year. I haven't sold anything, mainly because I won't be forced by eBay to use their new 'managed payments' system. Therefore:

Bigfoot Engineering King Fuzz - whole lotta fun; slap it into chop tremolo and go missing for days
Tate FX BMB Overdrive - Super useful, but I suspect I'm not a RAT person
Surfybear Metal - Does what it says on the humongous tin
Tate FX Antares - Replaced the ol' Behringer tube screamer on my board. Love the clean blend. Brings a bit more grit to the game
(Erica Synth - Acidbox III - Not per se a pedal, but gets used as one a lot)

    Out:

    Far too many, mainly "in".

One good thing, though, is that I've discovered I love JFET/FET overdrives/distortion pedals. None of yer magic diodes here!

    Same
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.
