This is a Mk 1 Marshall Valvestate 8020 with a Celestion G10D-25 speaker, made in Great Britain. A 20w amp, it’s surprisingly loud and can keep up with a drummer for rehearsal purposes. Apparently these are based on the JCM800 circuit and it shows, this has that classic Marshall sound in spades. Pots are a bit crackly, but clean up great with some switch cleaner, which is pretty normal for a thirty year old amp.

    I bought one of these in the mid-90s, my first Marshall. Ironically, the only one in the original Valvestate range that didn’t contain a valve… but it’s basically got a Mk I Guv’nor in the boost channel, so it does a pretty good impression of a JCM800. GLWTS.
