Interesting is not the word I'd use for it.

Just think it's cool that he came up with what appears to be a pretty elegant solution to a request that most luthiers would dismiss out of hand. I suspect I'd find at least as natural to use as a trem arm, and possibly more so.

It was done years ago, I believe it was commonly known as the Gibson SG

Maybe.  I'm on my work laptop, it probably has some stuff like that which I can't switch off or reconfigure. 

I did actually download an ad/popup blocker for my home PC a couple of days ago, some sites seem to be plagued with more ads than ever before just recently.  I'm not sure if the blocker itself is more or less irritating than the ads...
