2007 Gibson R9 & Fender CS 69

For sale is my Gibson 2007 R9, in lemonburst. The Guitar has had a couple of mods done to it.

Throbak paf covers on the original BB pickups, throbak tuners, pickup rings and 50's wiring harness with pio caps. Very good condition for it's age one small ding photographed. Frets are in excellent condition and it's got a lovely dark rosewood board also. Thanks for looking.

Fender custom shop circa 2001 1969 reissue stratocaster closet classic, excellent condition for age as it was a backup to my other number 1 69 reissue stratocaster, including frets. one small ding as pictured

Looks like an R9 Lifton case to me. I believe these were original in 2007.

Original case as far as i know. It is also a yamano. And weighs just over 8.5llbs.

I might be wrong, but I thought those cases were introduced in 2013, and that in 2007 it would have come with a black case with burgundy interior.

Not that it matters, was just wondering.  Stunning guitar - I wish I could afford it.

I have a 2005 R9 which has one of those brown Lifton cases with a single neck cradle and it’s the original case to my guitar. I’ve had a few R8s and R7s from the noughties that had the black cases, and other R9s from that era that had the brown Lifton. So the case in this sale is correct for the guitar. The later brown Lifton cases from 2013 or whenever have two neck cradles but the older single neck cradle case is more ‘authentic’ apparently!

This is proper case geekery now but there are 2 types of brown case from 2013, 2 neck cradle standard ones (not called a Lifton case) that replaced the pre-2013 black cases, and Lifton type brown cases with 1 neck cradle. I’ve had both. The brown Lifton style was available long before 2013 but only for R9s, though there’s still the odd year they didn’t do them for R9s.

R9 came with brown Lifton in 07, R8 came in black Gibson case. 07 was a good year, clear definition of features across R7, R8 and R9, all R8 were plaintops, and there was a 1K price step across the range, starting at £1600 for the R7, the R9 had the lightest weights and the best tops.
It all got very complicated soon after.
