Slow melodic solos to start with

What's Hot
Looking to get better at soloing and start playing some slower ones to start to improve my technique before getting into faster ones. Anyone recommend some good slow ones to look at to get me started and to hone my skills?

I have the following on my list so far:-

Every Rose Has Its Thorn- Poison
November Rain GNR

Cheers
Chris

This isn't going to be very helpful, but I'd start by looking at your favourite artists.
A lot of the work is really getting to know the song before you even pick up the guitar, if you already know the solo in your head, your halfway there.

While I am sick of that song Teen Spirit has a slow and easy solo to cop.

GnR Don't Cry a lot easier than some of the bits in November Rain.

Clapton's 'Cocaine' is easy and gentle to play.

My Trade Feedback Thread is here

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

    Californication.

I recently learnt Dancing in the Moonlight (Thin Lizzy) it's a tiny bit faster, just enough to push the envelope, which I think helps me raise my game. There is a fast section in the middle, which is 4 times around a loop, I only play it 3 to make it fit!.

    Call Me, Blondie was another.

If you like to rock then Fight For Your Right to Party and Be Yourself (Audioslave) are OK too. Be Yourself is simple, rhythmic and moderate tempo.

a page of easier (if not all slow) solos here https://www.theguitarlesson.com/guitar-lesson-blog/easy-guitar-songs/easy-guitar-solos/

I'm currently doing Bad Penny - one of the best hooks in rock, tho the tab for the first solo is simplified on that page.

  • They don't come much simpler than the solo in Don't stop Believin, but a very melodic solo nevertheless.

2 guitarist that immediately came to mind are David Gilmour and Steve Rothery.

As for solos, you can take you pick from the Pink Floyd classics.  Comfortably Numb is an obvious place to start.

For Marillion, 2 of my favourites are Sugar Mice and This Strange Engine.  The definition of slow and melodic for me.

Good shout for Tequila Sunrise, @hollywoodrox -  also it's good for practising double-stops.
