Hi all,
Apologies for jumping in to the forum just to sell—I thought the members here would be more interested in these than the Facebook/Gumtree crowd. If not, at least I hope they'll provide some eye candy! I've got 100% positive feedback on Reverb
here. (Please ignore the old address—I moved from the U.S. back to the U.K. last year.)
With a heavy heart, I'm selling my pre-CBS, early 1964 Jaguar, with clay dots. It's all original with the (arguable?) exception of the neck pickup, which was rewound personally by Lindy Fralin. It's currently fitted with a Mastery bridge, but the original (& mute) will be included. Of course, this is a totally reversible mod, and required no alteration to the guitar itself. It comes with its original case, trem arm, the Mastery bits and bobs, and a spare set of Gabriel Tenorio strings. It's a really killer guitar, and the wear is probably sitting around a "medium" to "heavy" relic—it's certainly seen some use, but it's far from abused.
The only mark that's a bit different to the usual knocks and nitro checking is a small horizontal line on the back of the guitar, where it's presumably been leant up against something a bit abrasive in its lifetime. I've added an annotated photo so you can see—or perhaps not, as it's hardly noticeable! But I thought I'd mention it for the sake of full transparency. Also, Lindy's rewind has made the neck pickup a little hotter than the bridge, so there is an increase in output when you switch to it. However, the bridge pickup is still totally usable and sounds absolutely unreal—it has a piano-like attack, and the liveliness of the resonance almost sounds like a sort of pseudo reverb. Hard to describe, but absolutely excellent. Again, just mentioning for full disclosure.
Looking around the net, there are not many pre-CBS examples around, and the mid '60s ones I can find are usually less original, don't include the Mastery, and listed for up to £6000 or so. With that in mind, I'm asking
£4995 for this. That would be your cost: I'd cover the PayPal fees, shipping, and insurance at my end. These are only going up in price, and I think that would be a sound investment. For another £100, I'll include a Mastery Vibrato. I bought this along with the bridge, but in reality it doesn't offer much in the way of tangible improvement, at least in my opinion, so I went back to the original. But you might want to try it out, and they go for double that new here.

Also up for sale is my '72 Tele Custom reissue, from the first year of production I believe (2011). This has the period-correct ash body, whereas the newer models are made with alder. It has also been modded with a Certano palm bender! This allows for B-bender style effects on the B and G strings. As part of that mod, the bridge was swapped out for an Allparts Bigsby plate (to allow the strings to pass through to the bender) and Gotoh brass saddles were added. The originals will of course be included. This has been very well looked after in general, especially seeing as it has the infamous "breath-and-you'll-dent-it" nitro finish of the early AVRIs. It had one small ship that was filled, but I found it impossible to photograph. You can just about notice it in the right light (and only if you're really, really looking for it), but for all intents and purposes its imperceptible. It also has a crack in the scratchplate, by the Wide Range humbucker in the neck. But that's all, in terms of minor downsides. This has all its case candy included—the strap, cable, and ashtray have never even been used This is such an excellent guitar, and a really good buy for someone who wants to try the palm bending thing. Given how well the lacquer dent was repaired, I reckon it the Certano could be removed and made to look totally stock without too much hassle. I'm after
£1495 for this—again, I would be responsible for all fees and shipping.
Photos here. I'm afraid it's so bloody shiny that some of these look a little weird, but I promise that it's just a regular black tele. Try to ignore the reflections!

Thanks all for taking a look. At the moment, prices are firm, but if you're local enough to South Devon that you could pick up, then there is absolutely room for negotiation, as I'd be saving on shipping, PayPal, and all that. You'll just have to promise not to mock me if I cry when I hand over the Jag.

BTW: Apologies for adding a comment. Couldn't work out how to edit the post. Was still "too long," even if I made it shorter!
