I think the grain in that top will look fantastic with the cherry red stain.  It's really looking great.

control positions - starting to feel crowded in that area, so i may move this control somewhere else

although originals are similar in that regard

Top and back plates done.   The top is now being glued on to the rims  hopwfully get the back on tomorrow.

The top is a carved arch top, back is pressed into a 15' radius dome so not totally flat.    I doubled up thickness by the control cavity so i could drill a grain matched and cross laminated cavity cover.

Top has 2 chunky parallel braces.  Back has 3 smaller parrallel braces on the slant, and a couple of extra flat braces to hold the cavity cover in place.

Decided to fit the neck and route for pickups before adding the back

Cant wait to add the flamed maple binding to this

That's looking lovely, much better balanced than the original you showed above, - that seems to have too much on the bass side and not enough on the treble.

It's looking great Wez.  Just wondering where you are going to put the selector switch?

I was thinking one of those holes to give 2 vols and 1 tone,   just not sure which one yet.

I could also potentially get one under the f-hole for 2 vol/2 tone.

If the top 2 controls were volumes and then the hole alongside the F-hole was the switch, with the tone down at the back, that would work well I think.

It’s down to how you play. I’d have the front two as volumes, and the switch at the bottom, furthest from my hand. If the looms are long enough then changing them around wouldn’t be too hard.

I will need to make the switch hole larger, so no swapping round after.

The other consideration is how to route the wires so they are as hidden as possible.   I don't mind one  wire crossing the f-hole, wouldnt want to see a rats nest.

Couple of small details before the back goes on

I've stained the cover supports so only the main braces are visible through the f-hole.   I've also added a label with a model name of "La Ville".   It seemed a fitting choice as  Paul Languedoc and I both have last names that come from places in France

Had a quick tidy up if the binding this morning, neck has also been rough carved

Still need to tidy up some details on it.
