It hardly seems right to call this Amp mine . It’s a bit of a Gypsy really . An incredible thing that I’ve enjoyed greatly. It’s been around the forum a bit almost like a gnarly lap dancer. Lots of info to be found in the search option . Takes pedals well ( I use a few ) plenty loud enough to gig . I had another 5e3 but The Tweedy has been the best. I’ve found something else so it’s time to part company for now . Enjoy the gut shots and please pm me for any more info.
Happy to meet or you’re welcome to try out in my studio . £450

  • In case folks might wonder about its pedigree, there was a guy known as 'John Tube' who was a well known local amp tech. He decided to start building and selling his own amps and this was one of them. Entirely handcrafted, he made the cabs and chassis as well. He gave up after a while but there are quite a few of his amps floating about in my 'local' area. At that price you can't go wrong. I always thought it was as close as you could get to an original from Leo back in the day.

This was one of the most fun amps I've ever owned. Fantastic thing.

John from Maidenhead? I've got one of his Champs. That guy could fix anything.

I owned it too! Loved it, and it was on my watch that it acquired the lacquered finish.

    You're welcome :)

I didn't actually do it myself. I had it in for service with a local Tweed amp guru, and asked him to lacquer it at the same time. He used a type of shellac I believe.
