That's like watching an autopsy following a particularly nasty accident involving Frankenstein's creature.

I’ve been searching for the pic, but Lemmy had a very similar looking natural finish Ric bass with black pickguard and a badass bridge…

Lemmy's "Born to lose …" RIC had a maple fingerboard with dot inlays. He used to describe it as a prototype. It may simply have been a luthier fingerboard/fret replacement.

Nothing quite like piling up some loose bits of wood in the hope that it’ll effect a pro-level repair, is there? :D

Have they reintroduced beavers into the UK already, or was that imported from over here somewhere?

Look like strips of oak, so clearly a solid English bodge modification  ;)

That’s in about the same state my ‘67 450 was when the previous owner got it, although not quite as bad...

It’s mostly restored now, although there’s nothing I can really do about the Tele string ferrules in the back, the extra jack socket on the side or the big repaired crack in the neck! It does look reasonably OK from a distance though :).

That's a lovely looking bass though. I'd have it and get the bridge sorted out - I do love a Rickenbacker.
