WTB (Feeler) - Vintage Early 60's Gibson ES-335/345/355

I am in the market for a vintage Gibson ES-335/345 from the early 1960’s with the larger nut and without trem , I have some leads but wanted to see if the forum has anything to offer. No breaks or major repairs but happy with players grade.

Yes I was offered that actually ! I’m after one without bigsby and the larger nut and preferably and not modified. Looks awesome though !

why doesn't it tick the boxes ... just interested as it seems to fit your brief ?

I’d be wary of it too. Someone’s had those covers off the pickups at some point so good chance the pickups aren’t original. If I’m not mistaken early 65 gold cover humbuckers were often PAFs still, worth a fortune, so I wonder if someone has swiped the original pickups from it.

most guitars from that era will have had some work done surely, mine has. Seems a "reasonable" price to me whatever pickups are in it, there's a 64 sold at ATB for £12k, 61 at £14k.....

A few reasons I didn't go for that one but was hugely tempted.... the seller is a really nice honest bloke but on top of the re filled hole on the front there is no serial number on the back of the headstock which suggests a neck re fin which the seller hadn't done himself and the back of the neck does look super glossy. I'd prefer to know the reason for a refin as its often to conceal a break or repair. He did point out the inconsistencies at Gibson where they sometimes wouldn't stamp the headstock but it's too many points racking up for me. Could be wrong though!
