The GUI transports me back decades to a visit to the old London Synthesizer Centre shop in King's Cross - before they changed their name to Chase. Somebody had programmed the ARP Quadra to make the "worms" sound effect from The Wall. (All played with one finger!) 

Listening to a good YouTube video introduction reminds one of the strengths of the original instrument (when operational) and, then, almost immediately, of its disadvantages. The section controls hamstring the user considerably. Small wonder that Dave Formula of Magazine stuck with a string machine and his trusty Odyssey.

Ah, well. It is still better that this product exists than that it does not.

Behringer - love them or hate them for their cloning are supposedly working on a desktop hardware version of the Quadra but I think it’s low on their list.
