WITHDRAWN Alvarez AF-75 PRICE DROP

Lovely small bodied Alvarez AF-75 - rosewood back and sides with solid Cedar top. Great finger picker or can handle big strumming if you do desire. Inspired by the Alvarez-Yairi Bob Weir model, its got a quarter sawn 'A' grade top and is a premium guitar.

Plays well and sounds gorgeous. Lovely condition - never been out of my house. No case. £185  £165 £150

And onto a guitar I’m not 100% sure I want to sell. It’s a January 1971 Yamaha Red Label FG-180. If you’ve read this far, you’ll know the prices of these are rising but I overpaid for this one… because it’s as old as me.
it’s battered - like me. A little worn around the edges - like me. But has a heart of gold and sounds amazing - yup, like me. ;-)
I’ve just recent had some work done on it - new bone bridge, consolidation work on the bridge block (split between the pins - very common and properly repaired) and a full polish etc on its original frets.
So it plays well, sounds like only an old Yamaha can, it’s structurally sound and is a proper red label.
It owes me the thick end of £500. I know I’m not going to get that but I’ll entertain offers around £400. There’s no case for this. SOLD

As neither have cases, I’m not prepared to entrust them to a courier. I’m based near Kettering, Northants (jct 10, A14) and would welcome any trial.
Or I’m prepared to drive to meet up somewhere (distance depending).
Or if you want to send me your hard case and are prepared to pay shipping (with insurance) at cost, I can do that.
But these won’t survive bubble wrap and a guitar box.

Any questions please ask

  • Those old Yamahas are lovely - I ‘lent’ mine to an ex neighbour and never got it back . I’d love another one but distance prevents it - GLWTS

I am planning to be down in Dorset some time in February, if that helps

    That does/doesn’t help !

Lets see if I can keep my wallet shut for the next few weeks as I’d be interested if it’s still around next payday :-)

  • £400 for a Japanese vintage Yamaha? I'd say that's a steal and half.

PS: Why does everything I like go on sale just when I'm short on cash -_-

Thanks - its a lovely guitar. Prices seem to vary greatly tbh... I have a feeling it won't sell on here, sadly.

The Alvarez is incredible for the money too - really great OOO sized acoustic.

Wow, that Yamaha was my first "real man's guitar". They're good.

You need an idea of what you are going to do, but it should be a vague idea.

  • Both lovely guitars. I too never seem to have ready cash when nice examples like these become available.

Yamaha now sold - bump for the lovely little Alvarez. Great sounding guitar and punches above its weight/pricepoint. Will consider offers...

    Boo!

    Still here, still lovely.

Someone else asked about some specs on the neck:

    Nut width: 43.5mm
    Action at 3rd: 2mm
    Action at 12th : 2.5mm

(Distance measured between bottom of low E and top of fret in each case)

The Alvarez is a great buy. I used to have the same model but a mate of mine literally harassed me for weeks to sell it him. He still loves it to be fair.

He’s a mad geezer and has some very, very lates nights and that guitar has survived all manner of beatings!

Thanks man. I've just restrung it and its an amazingly good guitar for the money.

Bump - and can deliver to the Exeter area week of 11 April 2022 if that helps. Or could possibly stop some point between Northants and Exeter on the motorway... (M5 route).

OK - its still here. I do have a box (but no case), so could ship it for an additional £18 (UK mainland, not Highlands or Islands) - but there's no insurance. If you think you can get it shifted cheaper or with better insurance etc, quite happy for you to arrange.

Or would be happy to meet up somewhere (within reason).

    Would consider trades too.

Try me - try the guitar, its great honestly!

Another probably futile attempt to bump this to the top of the pile.

I am genuinely open to offers, trades, deals whatever... try me.

Its a fab guitar but I just have too many acoustics.
