Sad dad bands

What's Hot
This made me chuckle.  How sad are you?  I thought I’d got off lightly as there are only one or two of these bands I like, but on reflection I think that probably means I’m even sadder.

I saw this on Reddit yesterday... War On Drugs, National, Death Cab, REM, and most of all Bon Iver

I don't resemble the My Morning Jacket descriptor, but it gave the biggest chuckle

  • I’ve only heard of three of the bands and only actually know the music of R.E.M. does this make me uber-sad?!

Of those the only band I particularly like (maybe I’d love the ones I’ve never heard of, who knows) is My Morning Jacket. I probably need to wait for the list of grandad bands.

Anyway, enough of this frivolity it’s eel for lunch…

lol... I thought I'd got away with that, but I like Bright Eyes and REM :).

I've never willingly listened to any of them.

In fact I haven't heard of at least half of them.

Obviously I know who REM are, and they are awful.

I did really enjoy a couple of T Rex records that were on the radio yesterday afternoon ......didn't realise what a good guitar tone Bolan had ....even way back then .

It's like when your favourite band moves from Kerrang / Metal Hammer and into Classic Rock!

Except that was relevant and the OP's link is full of nobodies. And REM. And they should be as unknown as the rest.

Not even Pearl Jam or Pixies?

I mean I totally get that not everybody likes the same music but none of the bands in that link are remotely obscure. Mainstream music press efforts, the lot of them. I'm genuinely surprised that anyone on a guitar forum hasn't heard of nearly all of them.

Likewise. I find it hard to believe the article has the audacity to try to make that sound as if it's A.Bad.Thing.

Try Sky Blue Sky by Wilco, you might like it.  Father John Misty can be good too.  I imagine there’s some great stuff in all of them though…

As I genuinely like more than a third of them I am officially fucked! =) Bring on the midlife crisis; oh wait, I’ve been having a midlife crisis for the last decade!
