Try as I might I just can’t get on with it which is a damn shame as it looks excellent , been playing it for around 6 weeks now, not picking up anything else , played with pickup heights etc , was just starting to swing it round to keeping it and played my tokai Eastman and prs  today and realised how much I love them and how much I don’t love the asat so it’s for trades only

Lovely guitar mate. I had a US G&L a few years ago I was buzzing to have one and thought it would be “my guitar”.

I struggled with the neck and the MDFs, at first. After spending some time playing the guitar and understanding these arnt Alnicos, I grew to really like the pickups and found them to be very versatile.

At some point . I will get another G&L

    Good luck with the trade.

When I first read your thread title I thought you wanted to trade the guitar for some Irish ale!  :)
    Good luck with it.

G&L are great guitars (I've owned 2 US Asat Specials, and a George Fullerton Signature - and currently have an Asat Classic with Joe Barden pickups).  In terms of set up, weight, tone, appearance etc. they're easily a match for US Fenders (and at a lower price point) - but I totally get why people can't get on with them, although suspect that both the Asat and Tele are guitars demanding a very particular approach which doesn't suit every player.

0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • Probably to heavy for your back Dave
necks not skinny at all but it’s no club

it really needs 10s on it but I didn’t have any handy when I restrung it so currently has 9s

  • I’m a proper lightweight aren’t I.

Those pickups sound ace and it’s a bonny looking thing indeed.
