What the fuck has not having a cat /budgie/ Hamster etc got to do with selling a guitar ?
It's as relevant as somebody selling a motorbike from a 'pet free home '
I'm sure that even if they had a dog it wasn't gnawing on the headstock
Just tells me that they're miserable fucks who don't like animals

My parents dog did piss all over my first electric guitar. Everyone is a critic!
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

I also seem to remember a thread about somebody's cat spraying on an electric guitar.

No odd smells, no risk of issues from some people being very allergic to cats for example, maybe less issues as people don't really clean their guitars that often when putting them on eBay......................

Guitars and amps are often either on racks on the floor or on the floor and at dog dribble level and cat "ownership" level. I can see where some people would prefer it. Same as I wouldn't buy anything from a smoker as the smell is hard to get out.

Way back in the early 2000s one of the more, eccentric shall we say, older lecturers retired and his office I believe had to be taken back to brick as everything had a patina created from the many a day habit. His IT equipment had gone yellow............

I've never bought anything that has had issues from pets when it arrived. However, I have received quite a few that had the foul stench of stale cigarette smoke.

One thing that doesn't put me off buying, but equally tells me nothing about the item being sold is "never gigged" or "home use only". I don't really care about its history, I just want to know its current condition.

I had a Squier Strat when I was 10 years old and up until I was 15 it was never gigged, but it had been on a school bus and dragged around school in a thin gig bag for all that time and was in pretty poor condition as a result.

Bare feet, dust around the the bridge and underneath the strings and finger cheese all over the fretboard.

Oh and all the pictures taken on an unmade bed.

"reduced for this weekend only". No it's not, it'll be that price for as long as nobody wants to buy it off you.

A tired used car salesman pressure selling tactic. Do one.

Obviously the school example is the outlier, but in my mind never gigged means it's less likely to be tatty-looking or have had beer spilled all over it, or have been stamped on so hard the switch is dodgy, or any other form of extreme wear & tear - or have velcro on the bottom, although people who don't disclose that in their listings should get in the fucking sea, too :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

It owes me: I think I put more in to it than the general market supports, and I expect you to compensate me for that.
