The latest one is steel frets. Or "just had a fret level a few months ago and has sat there unplayed".

It’s gotta be the old strings and grime stuff.

    "Lawsuit Era"
'Non-lawsuit era' is more scarce these days.
Now no-one specified which law suit...who knows what criminal past they are trying to hide
'This seller just entered his own, personal lawsuit era. Mortgage fraud.'

Increasing the price of the item.

On another forum, there is a guitar being sold that hadn't sold, but the seller decided that the market value had increased so increased the selling price of the guitar.

It didn't sell at the previous price, so a bit odd to think it would sell at the increased price. 4 years later, it's still for sale!

Theres a certain acoustic on here for years that’s been up and down more than a bride’s nightie.

My latest pet hate is “excellent condition”. Some people need to read up on what the word excellent actually means. What it doesn’t mean is “looks alright from 20 feet away, but only if you squint a bit.”

Listing guidelines usually allow for 'minor cosmetic defects' on guitars described as excellent. The one that surprised me was 'very good' - I've seen that used for a guitar that had obviously been heavily gigged and had quite extensive and deep damage to the finish. But the Reverb guidelines say:
"...items that have more cosmetic imperfections than Excellent, but are still in great condition overall. There may be some scratches, finish dings, or buckle rash, but nothing that affects the playability or function of the gear."

It starts well, but ends up meaning there's nothing that impacts function/playability, but any other damage is OK! To me that includes guitars that are 'pretty rough', rather than 'very good'. Quite a difference.

I bought a Gretsch Silver Sparkle Jet off eBay described as excellent condition. It arrived with pitted frets and was utterly filthy. You couldn't tell from the photos online. Anyway I decided to move it on as the whole thing annoyed me so I took it to my local tech for a fret level and set up probably 7 months ago. I held the guitar for a few months thinking I was selling it to a friend but after he bought something else I put it back up for sale so literally hasn't been touched since the set up. How could that put someone off buying it?
