Poor gramma, bad spelling, and low quality images. If you can't be bothered to put some effort into writing a literate listing, proof-read it, and provide some useful images then really I'm not interested.

If the electrics have been changed I'll include a pic of the electrics

I'm put off by people overselling in their descriptions

  • No time wasters - true time wasters have no self awareness so have no idea they are wasting time.
Also gives the impression that questions are not welcome.
Chatting with sellers is one of the benefits of buying second hand isn't it?

You lot need to get over yourselves.. I’ll be putting a guitar up for grabs soon when she is back from my tech’s having the necessary upgrades…she’s a Les Paul killer and plays like butter…I’ll be amazed if it’s still around after a couple of hours ;)

I find the most annoying thing is where there's no information whatsoever. You'll see an expensive Fender Strat, and the description will simply say 'Fender Stratocaster -used'.

It's like it was too much effort after they'd uploaded the photographs.

She’s a gigging guitar and has the roadrash you’d expect of a 40-year-old lady.
G4U: Need and want are different things. If I bought guitars based on need, I wouldn’t own any.

Probably been guilty of a few of these myself over the years :) I try to give enough information to be as accurate as possible so the seller can get a good idea of the guitar, whilst hopefully avoiding too much of the bullshit bingo.

I tend to stick to shops and businesses when I buy online. Even if it's a wreck you'd have at least some kind of redress(no pun intended.)

‘Here we have….’ Don’t know why but it bugs me
Axe, unless I want to down a tree or two
Lawsuit, if the bailiffs aren’t knocking your door down it’s BS
Best (whatever it is) I have ever owned/ played, so why are you selling it?
Amazing Strat for sale, purchased last week but I am not a Strat guy, why did you buy it then?

That’s how I’ve got the best bargains though. Being able to work out from pics it’s a roadworn or historic gets the deals

“Made at the (insert completely unknown/obscure usually Far Eastern) factory”. Apparently there’s tons of these factories where the world’s finest luthiers congregate to churn out hundreds of the world’s finest instruments every day.

I also got a great bargain on my recent guitar purchase which was described as "needs work" - turns out all it needed was a bit of Servisol in the pots/switch which also needed to be tightened, and a bloody good clean. I think he just couldn't be arsed and wanted it gone, or didn't have a clue how to do basic maintenance.
