FS/FT: WezV's Custom Guitar - £300 TFB price SOLD

edited May 2022 in Guitars £
Listed cheaper here for my forum colleagues than anywhere else, and cheaper than it was listed before in this forum.

I can ship it or you can collect in EN8.

Built by WezV in the UK, build thread here. Original FS thread here where it's listed a few minor details. I've had it for half a year and I've had fun with it but realistically I need to specialise in what I play and this style of music won't be it, I'm afraid. Pics below and specs afterwards. Would consider trades, let me know what you have, who knows.

Korina body, Gonçalo Alves (tigerwood) fretboard, and maple/mahogany neck rock solid. Multiscale going from 25" to 27", perfect intonation throughout and great for downtuning. Currently using 12-56 at B standard.
Jumbo frets, with very low action.
Pickup is an ASL Havoc split with a push/pull volume knob. This is the masterwound series from Oil City pickups. It sounds exactly like it looks, but cleans up very well, especially when split. Bridge is made from individual units from ABM Germany, fully adjustable for intonation and height.
Tuners are Hipshot open gear locking.
The guitar is very light (7lbs, 3.2kg) and has a very light finish, too.

I'm sorely tempted by this but I've never played a multiscale so no idea how I'd get on with it. Have you got any photos of it "in-situ" rather than the studio-y ones?

  • I played one of these when I popped in to  @wezv afew years ago.

    Really, really easy to play.

    I'm tempted...

/\ Same here and at that price it’s almost worth taking a punt on - having seen previous builds on here and reading comments regarding Wezv builds the build quality wouldn’t concern me in the slightest, only whether I could actually play the thing and make use of it!
    Where you at @carlos ;;

Outrageous.   I never spend less than £789.56 on a guitar.

I can take the extra £489 and donate to charity?

You won't notice it. Even on the 1st fret where the skew is the widest, you can play a barre chord with a straight finger. Make sure the top of the index is right on the fret on the lowest string, and the bottom of your index finger will be only a few mm off the fret itself on the high E. It looks weird, but it takes minutes to adapt. Here's a picture where I'm using a straight barre not parallel to the fret. All notes are ringing true. This is as awkward as it gets, and you can play it normally.

As for non-studio shots, here you go.

I’ve owned multi scale guitars before (Strandbergs) and they are easy to get used to and you forget about it in about half an hour :)

Yeah, I wouldn't warm up to a show in which I'm playing a multiscale by using a regular guitar, or swap between them in a show. But otherwise, it doesn't make a difference.

Bump as I'll be away for a few days so can't sell it until I come back on the 5th of May. I have one of these bags which is semi-solid, and A LOT of cardboard and bubble wrap. In other words, yes, I can ship it anywhere in the UK, or in the world. The bag is for free, too.
