So, Alistair and I watched this last night.

Brilliantly observed, on the money, absolutely resonates and his take down of offence and woke-ery is masterful.

At times I laughed til my sides split- however, the woke outrage on Twitter is even funnier.

It's a great shame that comedy appears to have lost the freedom to laugh at irony and stereotyping, as Gervais is probably the finest exponent of both and this is unmissable.

As someone who knows a number of trans people and sees daily the sort of shit they have to put up with, I'm not going to stick around with people who think that abusing them is "funny", and passing off any complaint as woke is bullshit.

It's a shame we can't be nicer to each other, but there you go.

I watched it last night, thought it was very good indeed. I much prefer his non-sanitised,non PC comedy, and he carried it off brilliantly.

I also thought After Life and Derek were excellent, too.

I found it hilarious. There were a few moments I even gasped and said “ohhhh f*ck!” Followed by snorting laughter. Brilliantly done

I thought some of it was pretty funny. I kind of think these guys are just pushing things as far as they can and always have the defence of "it's just a joke". They (Boyle, Carr etc.) are trying to offend, but it's certainly better than things not being pushed and becoming stagnant.

I always amazed when a gay man uses the phrase "woke" as an insult when there is a significant proportion of humans who think that gay people having any rights at all is "woke."

Woke isn't an insult. It's a badge of honour gained by giving a shit about others who have been subject to oppression over decades.

Every time an A list comedian makes jokes about trans people the following happens:

1/ some people are upset about it
2/ this upset is amplified by mainstream news sources
3/ a torrent of online hate is then released in the direction of trans people who "can't take a joke"

Many people still see trans folk as fair game. Since you can't be [as] openly racist/sexist/homophobic any more it's like all the hate is bottled up.  It's tiring to see happen over and over again. Regardless of a comedian's intentions the transphobia that these types of jokes legitimise is very real
