Capacitor Codes

What's Hot
Top Row    CDE715P200V

Bottom Row 4731 2034.

This is like a longer orange drop..

From what I can decipher this is a 47 microfarad Cap..

I've read elsewhere a 22 microfarad cap is usually used for Humbuckers..

These are in an Eastman Les Paul...

Any other info on these caps..

The guitar has Lollar Imperials in there..

I'm seeing modern wiring,,middle lug on tone pot..

    It will be 47nF (0.047μF)

    I've tried magnification etc...

The 473 is the important part for the value - 47 followed by 3 zeros, in picofarads... ie 47000pF, 47nF or .047uF.

    The other way round.

Although Fender have started using .022uF for single coils as well on the more modern models. Original Strats had .1uF.

As I said I have always thought it is the opposite..

    22 for 500k pots

    47 for 250k pots

I read this online when I checked...

I may have it completely wrong..

The ones in the Eastman are 47 from what I can make of the wiring codes which sound great..

Thanks...So I will try the 47 nf. with the Lollar Imperials I am going for.....
Not too much to lose if I don't get the same results...

I actually prefer 22 with a 250K pot. It cuts the top end, not the top and part of the mids.

That's why I don't like it - it leaves a more honky, middy tone than a .047 which is softer and deeper. Just personal choice, neither is right.
