Alternate picking question

   an example  like this would be  When alternate picking on the  D string notes G  - A - B  there is a gap of a fret for each note  , what fingers should i be using?   i am using 1 to play the G and  4 to play the B     for A i am not sure if to use finger  2 or 3

    There are no rules.  Whatever fingers make the stretch the most comfortable and give you the best pressure in that fret space, but your choice of fingering on the guitar is usually dictated or guided by what string and note you are going to play next.  I would probably play 1, 3 and 4 because that is the most comfortable for me, but it depends on how I first came to be in that position and where I am headed next and I might use the 2nd instead of the 3rd.   Gary Moore would probably have used the 1st, 2nd and 3rd  :)

    For me, ring finger usually when ascending, middle finger usually when descending.

    Working on this with legato recently . . . probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done on guitar.
