Oh wow! I'm in love ... with another man's guitar. Faults and all. Yes, even the slotted headstock is something I'm willing to overlook. What a corker!

Looks handsome. Usual questions: what are the woods? How does it sound?

    Happy NGD :)

It's a "standard" Lyn, in as much as any Brook is a standard: 12 fret, slotted headstock, English Walnut back and sides, European spruce top, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard, bridge and pins.

Son's gone to sit an exam so I managed a quick play; sounds even better that I could have imagined.

I've played about 6 or 7, Euro Spruce & English Walnut Brooks over the years and IMO, even though they look amazing, but sound even better.

    Congrats on your NGD.

lovely  - did you go down and pick it up ?  I know you were going to..................  TBH that part of the world / M5 is probably best avoided at the moment

You must have had the patience of a saint but it is a lovely looking (and apparently lovely sounding) instrument. How long did you have to wait?

    Health to play.

I was wondering about the wait time too.

But it does look lovely. Do you have fingerpicking in mind or is it also happy to be strummed? :)

No, can't spare the time off work at the moment so they couriered it to me.

    P.S. I hadn't forgotten that you needed a guitar taken down :)

@TheMadMick, @Mellish Ordered it in late September so about 9 months.

It's really for fingerpicking rather than strumming and will spend most of it's time in DADGAD or Csus2

:) didn’t think it was loaded but did feel a little guilty as I had sort of promised you. Great that you have an alternative.

Stunning. When I was down there last, I played Simons' own Lyn (or Lyn-type) in spruce and indian rosewood, Utterly beautiful instruments. Once I have enough in the GAS fund, my 3rd Brook will be one of these :)

    Enjoy!

Lovely instrument. Stunning back particularly. I realise I'm in the minority, and it's only my opinion, but I have to say that headstock spoils the look.
