Songs for the Deaf is the third studio album by the American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released on August 27, 2002 by Interscope Records. It features guest musicians including drummer Dave Grohl, and was the last Queens of the Stone Age album to feature bassist Nick Oliveri. Songs for the Deaf is a loose concept album, taking the listener on a drive through the California desert from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree, tuning into radio stations from towns along the way such as Banning and Chino Hills.[5]

Ah - one I actually own!

I remember hearing this album back in the day and not liking it as I found it was just flat out loud and noisy. Many years later I wasn't surprised to read that it's one of those super heavily compressed albums that were quite common at that time. Maybe now is the time for a re-visit...

Incredible album. Radio bits sound a bit naff to me these days - it's very turn of the century Grand theft Auto - but some BELTERS on there. My favourite is probably Do it Again. Pure sex.
