I like Plant/Krauss' version of Rock and Roll. I think they could do a whole album of rockabilly Led Zep tunes.

(Not that it was rockabilly, exactly, but they could certainly push it that way.)

Enjoyed Plant much more than expected. JS McPherson on guitar I think. Also Viktor Krauss? PLus, unexpectedly, a Calexico tune
I aim to watch Plant tonight, I'm going to guess the 'Calexico tune' was Inner Flame by Rainer Ptacek?

I'm a big Giant Sand/Rainer fan and Plant helped with the tribute album named after that song. I don't know if Calexico have released it, but Joey and John were the rhythm section for Giant Sand  and Rainer was Howe Gelb's best friend.
    Nah. 'Quattro.'

NOt as good as the original, but not bad. Hunt down the Barbican 'World Drifts In' gig on Youtube.

Been looking forward to Roisin Murphy but the sound all just seems a bit lacklustre. Not really the big sound I was expecting.

Some online saying it's paul himself won't let it air live.

They could at least have edited his vocals in during the time lag ...

Brian Ray sounds awesome, but Macca’s vocals sound very quiet

BBC won't show Macca live, that's a bit crap.
    It is.

Or, it’s an opportunity to watch the Plant/Krauss set again.
Some online saying it's paul himself won't let it air live.
Or his people, almost certainly, the Beeb would obviously show live if they could.

Hope I'm still as capable as that when I'm 80.

Is there any argument for Macca not being the greatest musician/artist/whatever of the 20th century?

(Or did he just have a great 6 years?)

Never mind Noel, (who I quite enjoyed actually) PM’s backing band is a monster. Abe Laboriol Jnr is a monster drummer then  Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray seem adequate…..
An official Foo liked guitarist since 2024

That I can heartily agree with, he really is a living piece of history.

Just told a really good old man story about Hendrix on the telly.

Have to cut 5 mins of the 45 min version  of hey jude now!

I always forget that Getting Better is one of my favourite Beatles songs. Sgt Pepper not especially one of my favourite Beatles albums.

Enjoyed TLC and Plant's still got it!

Oddly enough now that Robert Plant can no longer reach those upper registers he's a better singer in my opinion because of it. He's obviously looked after his voice but as a singer gets older they lose the top end. If you ever saw Zeppelin live then Plant used to ruin songs by all the screaming and wailing and over indulgence and could become tiresome. He was obviously reined in on the studio albums, which is just as well, as Zeppelin wouldn't have become my favourite band of all time. As you say @crosstownvamp he's still got it and Plant and Kraus has been the high spot for me so far. It was a graveyard shift unfortunately and I think the audience might have enjoyed it more when they were mellowed out a bit more at the end of the evening when we lost the light. Alison Kraus' stuff with Union Station is worth checking out. She's a superb talent.
I saw him on the Page & Plant tour in the mid 90s. It was an incredible show but the vocal cracks were starting to show.
I won tickets for the Led Zep Ahmet Ertegun gig at the O2 but couldn't make it. I'm kinda glad cos I think it would have spoiled the Zep legacy for me cos some of the footage I've seen Percy is really struggling.
But this set with Alison Krauss really suits him and he sounds really good. Like, really good. Fair play to him.
Exactly. If he doesn't have to do Zeppelin numbers in the Zeppelin style and sticks to his currentl vocal range he's great now. At times he was awful live with Zeppelin. Somebody should have told him less is sometimes more.

    Ian

Lowering my expectations has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.
