A bit late to the party with the olde pedal toppers thing.
The time has come to make things easier on gigs.
Sticking bits of reflective tape to my pedals,so i can tell whats going on without second guessing is good, but a big button may add another failsafe level to the mix
Any thoughts, before i buy some,or put an advert in the classifieds (Anyone got any to sell !)
Theres the plastic,and aluminium variety,
Any experience with either chaps ?

Many thanks

I like the more mushroom ones, they’re great for HX/Helix etc because they let yet light through but I’ve also used them on others like TC, Strymon etc

I have some of the Custom Pedal Boards 'Stompers'. Really can't fault them - solid aluminium, grub screw fixing, choice of colours. Not the cheapest but built to last.

I've not tried any plastic ones, but have plenty of the Custom Pedal Boards ones and they're great. the only thing I'd recommend is making sure you carry an allen key that fits the screws if you're gigging - as the screw can sometimes work free in transport (it's happened twice in the past 6 years that i've arrived at a gig with one topped missing, but it's just a thing to be aware of)

  • Managed to find some barefoot button toppers that go very fetchingly with my Stone Deaf pedals. Hitting both switches is how you cycle between presets, so super useful. Need to tighten the nuts on them though as one keep falling of at the moment

The Barefoot Buttons ones are superbly engineered. @ThorpyFX sells them, and ive bought quite a few.
much better than some of the tacky ones.

I also use Barefoot Buttons via Thorpy FX. I prefer the smaller ones: https://thorpyfx.com/collections/barefoot-buttons/products/mini-silver-barefoot-button-v1

I use the Mooer clear plastic Shroom ones on my Helix Floor. Seem robust enough so far and catch the LEDs nicely

I use these too. Not too big, not too small, seem robust.

I use them on my Boss DD500. Hitting two switches at the same time at a gig, to bank up/down,  was proving to be quite tricky. The button toppers made it a little bit easier to aim at both in one “hit”.

I tried putting them on other pedals as well but it offered little practical value really, so removed them.

I think mine were from Custom Pedal Boards.

I have found some of the TC pedals have a shallower button so the grub screw doesn't have much surface to bear on and so the toppers pop off.
Personally I have a bit of a phobia about playing in bare feet due to an episode of Ironside where a guitarist was murdered by being electrocuted through his wah wah pedal, he played shoeless.
    Don't touch that dial.

When singing and playing, I find having a bigger button to hit is helpful.

Also, if I take my board to a jam, being able to tell someone “hit the big red button for a solo boost” is really convenient if they’re not really in to pedals.

I have some of the aluminium ones to increase the height of the foot switches on a couple of pedals in the top row on my board. They are roughly colour co-ordinated to the pedals.

The cheap plastic ones look properly fugly though.
