Probably been done to death but not seen it debated for a while which do you prefer? Choose one erase  the other from history…

I will go Gibson

A bit confused, are we choosing which we prefer or which to erase? Get it wrong and it’s a very different result.

Mmmm.. virtually always gig with a Gibson ES345, Les Paul or a P90 Firebird (my number 1) .. they are my money makers. The ES last night on a festival stage.

    Sorry.. Fender is kindling.

I can totally live without Strats and Les Pauls but love Teles and 335s, ...

So if we throw Gibson acoustics into the equation it would be goodbye Fender

  • I couldn’t live without a Les Paul so Fender would have to go!

Bye bye Gibson, it ain’t personal but you didn’t make the Telecaster. But if we talk acoustic then you are welcome to stay

I think I would choose Gibson, as there would be a US epiphone in full force

I love lots of Fenders and Fender players, but I'd have to keep Gibson, if only for the humbuckers and P-90s.

    You have to keep Fender.

Its not just the guitars.  Most of the greatest amps in history are made by Fender (Tweed Deluxe,Princeton Reverb, Deluxe Reverb) or derived from Fender (Marshall Bluesbreaker and everything that evolved from it).

Even more important than that, you can't really have a rock band without a bass guitar, and Leo invented that.

+1. I would be happy to lose both Fender and Gibson guitars and keep Gretsch but the amp question is very important, so Fender stays.

    Erase gibson.
You dont see many bad quality fenders all the way down to squier range and lots of blossom along the way. Easy to sort out as well if anything has gone a bit pete tong. Mines a 100% stock plywood korean squier strat 1989 i bought for under £200. Big, thick and stratty. Yes please.

Gibsons need more trying out in shops to find a good one, fender more consistent. Gibson has too many quality problems that are "the norm" and daft custom shop prices. I went with an eastman sb59 for les paul duties.
In fairness , fender also on the custom shop marketing thing and there are plenty of sale on here regularly, which corroborates the rip off.

    Dont worry, be silly.

I have 6 strats and my Les Paul is an epiphone so fender stays.
    Don't touch that dial.

I love archtops and P90's, so Gibson stays. So many fabulous models, electric and acoustic, down the line that it's Gibson for me.

Fender for amps though, ta. And basses, although my favourite ever bass was a Gibson Grabber.

    So, all in all, Gibson.
    Call me Dave.
