I’ve heard many people say they hate playing it because they’ve played it so much, I’ve just seen the Kings of Leon play it at the O2 with 20,000 dancing and singing along with it. The band seemed to enjoy it and the crowd went nuts.

The Vaccines were fantastic support.

Too evening.

Bt srsly, it's a great song and KoL are a great live band. Last few albums have been ropey, but the first 3.5 were cracking

I was very tired when writing it and I blame that entirely for my faux pas.

I used to play a pub where about 5 people would watch the band and everyone else would sit in the other bar listening to commercial hip hop and drinking WKD.

When you played SoF they would all run in and go mental "Woooaahhgg!" etc, scare away the people watching the band and then piss off the moment you finished it.
    Was a bit dispiriting.

Great band, though I got tinnitus after going to an early gig of theirs.
Did they slaughter Mollys Chambers in homage to you?

PM me and I’ll send you details of where I got mine.  Not sure if my “supplier” would be happy if I made their details public.

The irony in the you're/your correction being, the song is actually called "Sex on Fire".

Never get tired of playing it.

It's a beautiful riff on the bottom strings (going from the root to the relative minor).
It sounds great in a 4 piece.

It doesn't need any faffing around with guitars, tunings, effects - unlike the other must know, iconic hit in recent years that every cover band guitarist is required to know by now - Mr. Brightside.

We'd play it at every gig if only the drummer would finally get his act together and learn the bl*oody intro part.

I hate playing it because i start playing the intro and then the rest of the band always come in at the wrong time. It'd be looked forward to if it wasn't for that.

You need to have a discussion with them about it and agree on how you’re going to count it in, and when each instrument is going to come in.

I've played in bands where the idea of counting along with beats is seen as a strange and alien concept antithetical to "feelin it man"

They never came in in the right place.

To be honest, it’s not my greatest skill either, but I’m lucky to play with decent drummers who will patiently sit down with me and count out stuff like this.

We used to let our drummer kick off the beat then I’d join in at the right point.

I don’t think I could be in a band that just fudges through things and doesn't find a way to make it tight, even if someone isn't able to play the original part 100% right.

I’ve never got tired of of playing it but then KOL are probably my fave still in business band.
SOF is a masterstoke of song writing with such well written parts it doesn’t need stacks of guitar doubles and stacked harmonies.
You can generally listen to any KOL track and focus on any instrument and it will be playing it’s own part… supporting the track but a proper part-in it’s own right

I think I’ve seen you play it if memory serves me correctly.
