Refretting an 80s maple strat neck?

Frets: 935
Due to very low frets, I’d like to have my 80s e series Squier neck refretted. There’s bits of lacquer wear and and some flaking. Ideally I’d like to not refinish/lose then existing finish. Is this doable?

Removing the original fret wire will crack some of the fingerboard finish. Some people tidy things up with a complete fingerboard clean up and respray. Others elect to leave the residual finish and only overspray where absolutely necessary.
The latter is what happening to Eric Clapton's Stratocaster, Blackie, and to reliced Custom Shop replicas.
