well up until about 5 months ago,i had never heard of vocaloid whatsoever.

since meeting one of my online friends though (they create vocaloid tracks that japanese clubs go absolutely mental for),i have been exposed to this world of miku hatsune e.t.c /vocaloid and i must admit to really liking it now (although admittedly it isn't for everyone).

i love japanese anime anything japan anyhoo.

A bit weird.  I quite like anime too, and some anime sound tracks are fantastic, but this doesn't do much for me.  It's an interesting device though, and presumably the fact that it's an entirely digitally created voice is part of the attraction of the "characters".  I also agree the hologram is quite cool, when used in this way, (rather than the "he's dead but here he is singin' " way).
