I think you did better than I managed, Jon! In terms of both volume and quality! I tried it too after reading a Verheyen interview in Guitar Player and learning all his string-skipping licks. I've still got the scribbled transcriptions of my own ideas somewhere, but as I'm nowhere near as musically literate as you I doubt anyone would be able to get anything out of what I wrote down at the time. I'll have a dig...
Cool that you're teaching again, I hope the student is fun to teach!
@bigjon
Bah. I'm glad you're not upset. And of course it's different if you're doing someone a favour instead of earning money with it. But the missus teaches music for a living and has plenty of hassle with flaky students.
Anyway, I couldn't find my "Verheyen diary" scrawls straight off. I did unearth piles of teenage poetry/song lyrics, but I'm not posting that!
It's turned up. I'm not sure what's more embarrassing, that or the teenage poetry... The same book has my own transcriptions of Metallica songs for nylon-string guitar. I thought the snare drum was a muted high E string... :rolleyes:
I've buried it again while I sort out my cellar, but I might post the odd excerpt when I've had a proper look at the licks.
:shame:
