Thanks to the guys in the other thread for identifying the woods used on this one.
This is my take on a Sandberg Patchwork bass - always wanted one, could never bring myself to pay 5 grand for one ...
@GSPBASSES very kindly sent over some random body offcuts, which I jointed, glued at angles and machined into a very slightly smaller jazz bass shape.
Each section has been finished to try make it look like 4 basses stitched together. From bottom to top we have: Ash - natural finished, Korina - translucent blue finish, Mahogany - natural finish, Alder - candy gold spray.
It's not quite on a par with the Sandberg - maybe I'll make a half rosewood half maple fretboard eventually, but it does the trick for now.
Finished it with active 2 band onboard electronics, Alagree Musicman pickup and wilko Jazz bass pickup. Sounds almost as good as it looks ...
