This FREE update makes TONEX Pedal and TONEX ONE a complete all-in-one solution for the gigging musician requiring a powerful compact ampless rig. It features 8 new effects, including 2 delays, chorus, flanger, tremolo, phaser and rotary (all tap-tempo), plus a new spring reverb.

Two new effects blocks can be configured pre- or post-amp and cab for maximum customization. The 8 effects are also compatible with TONEX Mac/PC. The software and firmware updates will be available in November 2024.

That is really interesting and if the effects can be toggled on and off by midi then it just might make my HX-FX redundant.
I guess we'll find that out in due course, but even if it doesn't, my preset loads on a Tonex pedal using MIDI are fast enough to be almost gapless in mid song, so maybe it will be workable just to have two presets to switch between delay on/off, etc.

Sacrilege, I'm sure, but now I'm thinking about Tonex as a way to hook up an acoustic guitar with basic effects into a PA...

Ive been planning on getting a tonex for a while. Now i'm almost ready to order... just noticed there a LTD edition white version with 150 premium captures from Amalgam, Jason Sadites, The Studio Rats, Worship Tutorials and Tone Junkie.

    list here:
    https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/tonexpedal/inclusion_local/TONEX_Pedal_Anniversary_Edition_Premium_Tone_Models.pdf

£429 preorder from andertons. Considering you can get a regular tonex for £295 from amazon, is it worth the extra £135? the White does look cool, but the black one looks smart enough.

There are a load of captures to download before you get into buy packs from Amalgam, am i likely to find something that fits my needs for free? my needs are clean, crunch and high gain that sounds rewarding enough through some studio monitors and headphones.

    hmmm... decisions

That's what i initially got mine for, as i was struggling to get good sounds for an acoustic gig via Helix HXFX with presets and IRs. I downloaded a profile of a K&K (i think) Preamp free from Tonenet and added a touch of reverb, sounded much better than my previous efforts
I'm scared and I'm waiting for life

My ToneX is probably the best piece of gear that I’ve bought in years. Glad to see that IK are adding the modulation effects for free.
I feel that way about it and I've only got the software. I got it on offer with the last Amplitube upgrade and have hardly used Amplitube since!

I feel exactly the same way I did when I got a PODxt. Had read about this new-fangled modelling malarkey (and heard the results Andy Partridge got on an XTC album) and thought I'd try it. Absolutely loved it and used the unit for years and years until the display went kaput.

Not too bothered about the modulation but it's nice to have. (That said, I quite like a rotary speaker sound and phasers are fun.) The new spring reverb is interesting as I just use the room and plate options.

Would have loved some kind of boost option just as a generic solo/drive but it would be churlish to complain about more free shit!

Keep thinking I'll pick up the hardware so I can play without turning my ageing (and chronically slow booting) PC on. Just need to figure out how to share the monitors between the Tonex and PC.

I dont have the pedal yet, but my plan is to connect the outputs of the tonex into the inputs of my audio interface. The interface (Arturia mini fuse 2) has a mix knob which should then allow me to mix between pc audio and the tonex. So I can do tonex through the monitors or the pc, or a mix of the two for playing along with music. I can also do the same with headphones, the interface will pass the tonex to the monitors without the pc being switched on, as long as there is power over the usb

Once the Amazon price drops again, I'm going to try the TONEX. Seems this pedal and the One are doing really well!

Yeah i noticed it went from £295 to £322. There is a prime day sale on tomorrow, so hopefully it will come back down.

there is always the silver one from Thomann for £300. I do like the limited edition white one, but i cant justify the extra cost as i'd never likely spend that much on captures from third party suppliers. Not to say i wouldnt buy any, but once ive found a few good ones, id likely be happy with that, plus a few from tone net and id be away.

i had a test with the free version of tonex with my new monitors yesterday with the guitar plugged into the audio interface. sounded pretty good. and the latency using the audio interface was better than i remembered too. wondering if i should just stick with the software on the PC for now...

I had the Tonex One and sold it because Tonex SE came with the Axe One interface and it does everything really well. Latency times are more than OK, got some Amalgam captures, and I am happy.

so, i got my tonex pedal yesterday and spent a bit of time with it last night.

i connected the outputs to my audio interface, mix knob all the way to "input", which just routes the headphones/monitors direct to the inputs. audio interface into headphones. Stock sounds were a bit Meh.

Fired up the PC, got all the software installed and up to date. Plugged the guitar directly into the audio interface, mix knob all the way to "USB" and tried some of the sounds from Amalgam using the software. I got some great sounds! warm, smooooth, awesome!. Downloaded a bunch of those sounds, transferred them to the pedal. Plugged guitar back into the pedal, pedal into interface, mix knob to "input"... it sounds shit. Its shrill, a bit fizzy and noisy.

i tried changing the global input trim, this changed the saturation, but the overall sound seemed much the same

I'll have to do some more testing.

Now, with the guitar plugged into the interface directly, i had forgotten to press the guitar button (interface is Arturia Minifuse 2) which raises the input impedance. so its possible this was knocking a bit of top end off. Also, i have an EQ set to take the edge of the monitors for listening to music. I'm sure this was switched off, but i'll check it.

So if i can get the sounds l did from the software directly from the pedal. i'll be happy, if not, i could send the pedal back and use the software i guess.

Hopefully i can suss it out.

    Any ideas?

I've only had mine 24 hours, but I stumbled across a setting to change the global output level.  I'll try and find it.
