Guitar (Body) Maker Wanted

What's Hot
Hi,

Reference this discussion about reclaimed pine.

I'm looking for someone who can process some wood for me into Telecaster bodies.

It's 3 inches thick so will need planing, but it's also embedded with nails.

Thanks,

Ben

Remove *every* nail - any left would wreck blades.

    Thickness.

    Cut.

    Joint.

Cut out body shape (with/without cavities?).

    Rough prep for finishing (presumably?).

How much are you expecting to pay per body?

Further to this Discussion (and the earlier one), where has the stash of pine been stored since last year? Is it thoroughly dry? Is it seasoned? Is it twisted or splitting? How long are the individual pieces?

I once travelled with a friend to collect a gurt lump of mahogany. The seller had planned to divide it lengthways to make matching gate posts. The lump was a two-man lift. We had to wedge it diagonally into my friend's Leyland Sherpa van, between the offside wheel arch and the A pillar in the cab area. :s

The task would have been better handled by a dropside truck with a hydraulic lifting arm and a few strops. The average home guitar building enthusiast lacks transport on this scale.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Thanks for the replies.

It has been stored in an open sided barn. The wood is splitting in places, but there's a lot of it and it's long so there are plenty of good bits to go at to make bodies. How would you recommend storing it now?

The remaining nails are well buried.

That is not a good thing.
