If you made a strat with two P90 pickups ....

What's Hot
Would you go for a 'standard' 3-way strat switch in the usual place, or a Gibson type switch, and maybe somewhere different?

I'm planning on making one, but just not sure about the switch ...

With a pickguard I'd go standard 3 way

If it was routed like a Gibson I'd go for LP style and placement

I find LP placement easiest in the heat of battle

So does Petrucci by the looks of it

That JP model features the piezo bridge saddles. The toggle on the upper bout selects magnetic / both / piezo.

Petrucci is keen on arranging his controls according to the natural arc of movement from his elbow.

I never realised that Petrucci's arms were so small

    LOL

What @roberty said for me... if you don't have a pickguard anyway I think I find a toggle handier to engage... EDIT: At least regarding the type of switch... I'm not sure I'd go with LP placement, it gets a bit in the way for me. I'd put it in a similar place to a Strat switch I think.

    It's common among guitar players

There are only two reasons young men become guitar players. One is having a big nose. The other is having a small ....

    Well-known fact.

I’d put a toggle switch in the Hamer/PRS position behind the bridge.
