Is there any other sport where the commentators spend almost half their time explaining the rules rather than just describing the action? 

I get that F1 changes it rules every so often but it feels like football comms explaining the offside rule every time the whistle goes.

They change the rules to allow DRS within 1 lap of the start instead of 2 yet Verstappen still pulls out a lead of over 1 second within the first lap and then sets off into the sunset.

I watched the whole race looking for the action.  At the end I went to put the kettle on.  The water boiling was more interesting.

It sounds like Gasly's radio messages were probably the most interesting thing, but not fit for broadcast...

The best thing was he was so far ahead he barely got any coverage. I really hope the rest of the season isn’t going to be like today’s snorathon.

He’s just popped up on the C4 highlights show.  He looked a bit shifty when they asked him about what was happening off track but toughed it out.

In Alpine land both technical director Matt Harman and head of aerodynamics Dirk de Beer have quit. Hard to tell at this stage if it's because they know they did a shit job, or because they know management wont' give them enough slack to make the changes needed to fix it.

Possibly high ups need a couple of heads to roll and these two have been nudged or know it's coming.

They’ll end up in Williams like Pat Fry. 

Part of me believes this is self sabotage from Viry because it won’t be a wholly French success.

I’d happily pay a little to follow the season if there’s both good racing and an open book on the championships. If this is the pattern for the 24, I’m not even sure I’ll watch the highlights.
