Thinking about applying it to a race - the turbulence thrown up by a field of 22 cars would make it a whole new ball game.

F1 Twitter is going mad. To summarise just today:
Apparently Ford want out of the deal with Redbull (F1 Insider)
Ben Sulayem is under investigation for trying to interfere with the 2023 SA GP (BBC)
And Gerhard Berger reckons Horner is staying at RedBull, Max is going to Merc, Newey to Ferrari.
This would all be hilarious!
The Yanks don't like backstage drama with their cash cows. Liberty must be very upset

It’s rumoured that the exit clause in Max’s contract allows him to walk if Marko quits. I imagine it’s part of a larger condition allowing him to scuttle off in the event of the team losing certain key players (Newey, Marko, Horner, engine partner). And I’d be surprised if Newey doesn’t have a similar clause.
One surprise in today’s news reports was that Newey apparently favours getting shot of Horner. I know he likes to be involved in decision making - he left Williams because Frank and Patrick signed Villeneuve and got rid of Hill without consulting him - but I never thought he was into the whole political manoeuvring thing.
I wonder if many of Red Bull’s big sponsors have exit clauses as well?
The most recent threatened breakaway was back in December, with Liberty (rather than the teams) threatening to break from FIA governance after getting pissed off with Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s meddling. Empty threats - the FIA manage the technical and sporting regulations, all safety aspects of motorsport (circuit licensing, car homologation, crash testing, barriers, helmet and overalls, etc) and any new series would have to duplicate that expertise.
The relatively new fans that think Max would win in a shopping trolley now seem to be far more worried about Adrian Newey leaving than any other factor. These are the same fans that think LH was a sham and only won because of the car, but they seem to be admitting that the same might apply to Max.
It's hilarious watching the arguments, and not least because I still reckon prime Senna would have wiped the floor with the pair of them in equal machinery.
