The cars need to be worse at braking and/or just plain have less grip. Longer braking zones would mean more room for error-slash-heroics

Racing will never get back to the great days of the late 60s / early 70s so we need to find something else to brighten up the afternoon.
    I suggest streakers.
    Bring back Erica Roe!
Well actually she is 67 now so we'll give her the afternoon off, but I'm sure there a few saddo influencers keen to get their kit off and try to race across the track in front of an F1 car as long as they can live stream it.

We need something like a Death Race Formula. Oil spraying randomly across the track, clouds of smoke suddenly appearing at the corners, cars fitted with rockets, bazookas and machine guns. That’d sort the men from the boys.

I would love to see a spec series with NA v8s, large capacity, like NASCAR engines.  Single seaters obviously, but super low down force and intentionally not too slippery, aerodynamically.  Fat rear tyres reminiscent of the 70s, smaller fronts, which lend themselves to high degrees of slip angle for maximum grip, and which last easily a race distance.  H pattern boxes and 3 pedals, no wheel adjustments for brake balance or any mapping settings. Obviously all the safety features like halo.

They'd be slow around a lap.  Ferocious in a straight line to a point, but not remotely good at slowing down.  They'd be able to follow closely, and slipstream would be big because they're not very aerodynamic.

They would be sideways a lot because that wouldn't shed downforce and the tyres would demand it.

And because they're all the same it really is a fair contest throughout the field.

Anybody have a spare 450 million dollars?  I could name the series anything you like.  Formula stickyfiddle?

Absolutely a bitter pill for Piastri to swallow.  I wouldn’t have blamed him for refusing to comply and saying “Look, it’s not my fault Lando had a shit pit stop”.

Aside from that, I’m baffled as to why Bearman was the one who ended up with a 10s penalty and points on his license when Sainz turned into the corner like he didn’t exist.

I think Berman got himself in no-man’s-land of not being up alongside far enough for it to be his corner but far enough that he’d left it too late to bail onto the brake.
Personally I’d have said racing incident - because if he’s not far enough alongside, at what point does the lead car need to use superpowers to know there’s a wheel dangling inside their rear tyre that they’ll hit.
    Red ones are better.

I think the issue was Norris was asked if Piastri can pit first to undercut Leclerc and was specifically told Piastri wouldn’t get in front of him. So McLaren was bound by its own fairness rules

Didn't they mess up Lando at the pit stop?

I don't really understand why this is such a big deal.  They've been swapping positions frequently, and I don't think this isn't a good reason to do so

  • This quali session is mental!

Is this an all time record for number of red flags in one qualifying?

I was working through Q1 so wasn’t really paying attention but Q2/3 has been incredible. We’ve definitely had similar sessions in Baku before but I don’t remember one this extreme

    Bloody hell!

I’m gutted for Sainz & Williams but i can’t remember a more exciting set of final quali laps in years!

And full credit to Max - that was an all-timer. Ditto Sainz, frankly!

Lando excelling in snatching disaster from the jaws of victory there.

Norris was the only one there on used tyres. I reckon the wind picking up made the wind sensitive McLaren even more tricky to drive

He also went first and missed out the track evolution, which to be fair, was a total 50/50 call. He’d have looked pretty good if there was a crash behind him.

Max was worryingly fast on Mediums in Q1/2.

Should be an easy win for him

Here’s hoping Lawson piles into the back of Verstappen at the first corner.
