Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz Bass - £250

This has had a few little upgrades. All the wiring and pots were replaced by the previous owner but I can’t remember what with. All I do know is that both volumes and the tone are responsive end to end and it sounds incredible. It’s also wearing a lovely posh set of flats which give it a proper double bass sound and vibe.

The satin finish all over looks great and has a really premium feel but the best bit by far about this one is a really superb neck. The fretwork is faultless and the edges are beautifully rolled.

    Sold - Epiphone Inspired by 66 Century - £300

Firstly, this guitar has had a full neck snap. At the top going from the neck at the back, to the headstock on the front. The repair is absolutely solid, has not moved a micron in years since I bought it but it’s not the prettiest job you’ll ever see.

Past that it’s beautiful guitar, completely hollow so light as feather and a joy to play. Even sounds warm and balanced acoustically.

theMarlin put some flats on it a while back, which I thought I’d really dislike but it’s a perfect match. Really suits the guitars warm, soulful and woody nature. As does the upgraded Lollar P90, which definitely takes the guitar up a level.

These seem to sell for around £500 and up, so take off £200 for the neck break, throw in the Lollar as a very nice bonus and £300 seems right.

And if you like them ugly, I have that covered too.

It is. I bought this one and the P Bass at the end of
last year, with the intention of just keeping one but they were both so much fun.

The Jazz is probably the nicer of the two but I’ve had several J basses over the years and I’m really enjoying the P vibe.
