80s guitar body brand. Help

What's Hot
Any ideas of the make and country of origin of this body, it was sold as a 80s possibly Japanese contemporary series squier but pretty sure it's not (different heel, missing switches).

The shop I worked in in the early 90s used to sell Encore 'Strats' that looked like this...
    Never Ever Bloody Anything Ever.

If its an Encore - it will be solid wood. And *bloody heavy* normally.

TBH, they weren't *awful* but the QC was a little variable shall we say

It does look a lot like an '80s Encore, especially with those pickups.

  • Thanks ... Encore it is then, I can't return it as the seller  did say he thinks it was an  squier contemporary rather being one. It looks to be solid wood and does weigh a tonne but should be make good base for an 80z project.

    Thanks again

As impmann said - early 90s Korean Encore, not 80s Japanese anything.

Wishful thinking at best from the seller…

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

FWIIW, the control cavity cover plate imitates that of the Charvel Model series.

HSS pickups + fulcrum vibrato = Model 1c. Unfortunately, fulcrum vibrato + droopy headstock = tuning instability.

Needless to say, the pickups are nothing special and the single coil routs restrict your replacement options.

Still, the basis for an interesting project.

If you are minded to get rid, I know a man with a stash of Jackson/Charvel parts who could do something with it. ;)
