80s guitar body brand. Help

Any ideas of the make and country of origin of this body, it was sold as a 80s possibly Japanese contemporary series squier but pretty sure it's not (different heel, missing switches).

The shop I worked in in the early 90s used to sell Encore 'Strats' that looked like this...

If its an Encore - it will be solid wood. And *bloody heavy* normally.

TBH, they weren't *awful* but the QC was a little variable shall we say

It does look a lot like an '80s Encore, especially with those pickups.

Thanks ... Encore it is then, I can't return it as the seller  did say he thinks it was an  squier contemporary rather being one. It looks to be solid wood and does weigh a tonne but should be make good base for an 80z project.

As impmann said - early 90s Korean Encore, not 80s Japanese anything.

Wishful thinking at best from the seller…

FWIIW, the control cavity cover plate imitates that of the Charvel Model series. 

HSS pickups + fulcrum vibrato = Model 1c. Unfortunately, fulcrum vibrato + droopy headstock = tuning instability.

Needless to say, the pickups are nothing special and the single coil routs restrict your replacement options.

Still, the basis for an interesting project.
