I just bought one of these.

The amp comes with a built-in power scaling feature. I understand at low powerscale settings, it's advisable to lower the master volume.

Unfortunately this amp does not have a master volume - and that is one of the mods (amongst many others) discussed here:

On this schematic Rob Robinette recommends placing a master volume after the effects loop.

So if I were to place a line level graphic equaliser (like a Boss EQ20) in the FX loop, will the output level control of the EQ do a good job substituting for a Master Volume?

Expert opinions deeply appreciated

Just out of interest, why is it advisable to lower the master when you're using the powerscaling? Most amps I've seen with powerscaling/VVR don't have a master...

Andy Talbot of RAT amps once advised me that at very low power scale settings lowering the master volume improves the tone.

Oh ok, thanks! I was just worried it was dangerous- for the amp I mean.
