The best guitar ever ?

Love my Tele and my Strat, but my ‘62 cherry red 335 is the best guitar I’ve ever owned…and played.

The Patrick James Eggle Oz I have is the best tele I’ve played. Twin humbucker that split well, maple neck and alder body, total delight - and a drop top  that massively improves comfort.

It probably is the Stratocaster, although it's not my own favourite.  I might say HSS Strat, for the extra versatility, but that would be getting away from the original blueprint and perhaps from the spirit of this thread.  So, Strat.

Actually, maybe I should be saying Ibanez Jem or RG.  Taking the Strat concept and modernising it in a vorsprung durch technik kind of way.

Would like to say Tele but just don't get on with them. Also the Strat, but detest the sound of a trem. I'm a huge PRS fanboy so would love to say my old McRosie, but sadly not. An LP Studio, alas no. Completely off the wall but for me it's the Cream T Aurora, try one before you knock it.

I have to agree. I’ve owned a few Teles, but can’t get on with them for playing live.  But, for the first production guitar ever to still be in production, pretty much the same as it’s always been ….. well that tells me the designer was a genius and got it right first time. And there’s barely a genre of modern music it doesn’t sit comfortably with.  Nuff said, really

I almost agree with the OP. I love my Tele and play it live a lot, but at most gigs I play my LP Special P90 for at least 60% of the set. For me, the Gibson is just easier to play for some stuff. Some gigs, the Tele sits on its stand for most of the gig. I still wouldn't be without it though, and at home it gets played more than the LP Special.

The best is the Superstrat  - strat on steroids. Nice neck pickup, inbetween sound, ballsy bridge HB, efficient trem.

I wouldn't want any of the "big 5" electric guitars in unmodded form as my number 1.  I might just plump for a Tele as the best template if it's got the right specs but the Tele I ended up with wouldn't be a Tele as far as a purist was concerned.

I wish more manufacturers would make 25 inch scale guitars, because that's the absolute happy medium for me.

I do, however, think that a good "335" guitar takes a lot of beating and can be used convincingly for most styles of playing and music.

Strat Tele ES-335. All similarly fantastic But I'd honestly struggle to pick just one.

From my own guitars I'd have to go Strat, provided it had a tone control on the bridge pickup, but I don't actually have a 335...

I bet that weighs a good ton - I've not sold one for a long time - maybe 20 years or so
